アートワーク

Tokyo Midtown is adorned with an outstanding selection of sculptures, paintings and other public artwork transcending nationality and genre. The main focus is placed on works by renowned stone and bronze sculptor Kan Yasuda.

"Reaching up to Heaven, Connecting to the Earth"

Marble, a stone variety formed over periods of several billion years, is one part of our planet. With this white stone creation, "Ishinki," the marble has been returned to its original underground home. Climbing into the cavity sculpted in the stone brings one into harmony with the planet, with the hushed voices of the ancients audible to the mind's eye. When sunlight penetrates from above, the white particles of the stone breathe with radiance and beauty, as if basking in the light of day for the very first time.
