Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH 2014

“Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH” is the annual design event started in 2007 with the concept of “enjoying designs with all five senses”. You can enjoy not only various design exhibitions and installations but also dining and shopping experiences related to design with the theme of “Turning your design switched on!”.

The Forest of Chairs -Design×Science-

This installation will feature various unique chairs. Some will change color repeatedly when you sit down and warm them up, while others may encourage you to reveal your secrets. Each different chair features a scientific mechanism. Sitting in these chairs will “turn your design switch on".

School in the Forest by “Roppongi Future Talks”

A school is held in the forest in the Midtown Garden where you can feel the soothing fall breeze. In the open sky classes, teachers recommended by the school principals provide a range of unique, special lessons. In the school's library, books selected by a total of 50 different creators will "turn your design switch on". Why not relax and enjoy a book while sitting on the grass?

The FUJIYAMA Glass was commercialized after winning the Judges' Special Prize at the 2008 Tokyo Midtown Awards Design Competition. When a frothy beer is poured into the glass, it looks like a snowcapped Mount Fuji. During the event period, the glass will be used to serve special drinks featuring Mount Fuji at two restaurants in Tokyo Midtown.

THE FAB MIND: Hints of the Future in a Shifting World
Koyasan 1200th Anniversary: Treasures of the Sacred Mountain

Koyasan, founded by the monk and religious leader Kukai, ranks alongside Hieizan is one of the great sacred centers of Japanese Buddhism. 2015 will mark the 1200th anniversary of Koyasan's founding, and a variety of precious artifacts will go on display at the Suntory Museum of Art to commemorate the run up to this landmark year.
