While kabuki is today positioned as a "special" classical art,
Kanzaburo Nakamura has worked hard to make his performances more accessible to more people while staying as true as possible to tradition.
For this exhibition, Mick Rock, known for his photographs of rock stars and being on the cultural cutting edge, has taken Kanzaburo Nakamura and his troop, "Heisei Nakamura-za", as his subject.
The images show an authentically Japanese world captured through the lens of a rock 'n' roll aficionado.
His pictures are certain to create awe, excitement, and new discoveries in their viewers.
