Eating the Wind

Eating the Wind

The carp streamers seem to be gulping in the air, the outlines of their supple bodies flexing like balloons. In order to visualize their ecology, they were fed slightly tinted air. If you look closely, you may be able to discern their structure. Here’s hoping today is full of imagination and dreams. 【Created in 2020】

KOBOKU FISH

KOBOKU FISH

Sansui-Sha works with Koboku(vintage wood materials used as timbers for traditional Japanese-style houses) which are left over after old houses have been dismantled. I went to their warehouse in Nagano Prefecture and took tracings of the surface of Koboku. The decades—even centuries—the Koboku has seen are engraved on its surface. The koinobori is filled with the wish that children will live long and loving lives, like Koboku. 【Created in 2020】

This QR carp-streamer will be praying for you, and will bring you good fortune. 【Created in 2020】

Public Opinion Koinobori

We asked 100 people both men and women which koinobori color they liked, and then divided the koinobori's body into 100 sections and colored it using the percentages from the survey results.
