02 DESIGN LIVE KATAKANA NIGHT（LIVE EVENT）

Katakana is one of two types of syllabary invented to promote literacy and align Japanese pronunciation with the written knowledge of the continent. In modernity, Katakana has come to be mainly used to write onomatopoeia, mimetic words, and foreign words, so it stands as an important device to connect Japanese with things that are outside of traditional written language, or are being newly introduced.
TOKYO MIDTOWN DESIGN LIVE Katakana Night will feature performances and installations designed to unlock the hidden power of katakana, inviting everyone to experience its influence in fun and educational ways.
