I'mexpecting the emergence of new ideas.●Art’08 /’09八谷和彦photo by Miura Haruko●Art’08 /’09中山ダイスケ代表作：「他者とのコミュニケーション」という一貫したテーマによるインスタレーション、オブジェ、絵画、写真、ビデオ等ガラスケースに展示を限定されているこのアワードは、作家の柔軟性と展開力が真に問われます。審査に携わらせていただき、通常のアート界におけるホワイトキューブでの表現手法とは全く異なるものだと感じました。デザインコンペと並列に行われるこのアワードが、東京における表現の新しいドアを開けてくれることでしょう。Daisuke Nakayama / Artist / professorLimited to a display in a glass showcase, this award trulychallenges an artist's flexibility and sense of evolving. I feltthat this was completely different from the White Cube styleseen in the conventional art world. This art competition,being held along with the design competition, will open anew door for expression in Tokyo.photo by Hiromi Shinadaアーティスト/東北芸術工科大学教授■Design’08 /’09小山薫堂メディア・アーティスト代表作：「視聴覚交換マシン」「見ることは信じること」「ポストペット」「エアボード」「オープンスカイ」等この2年間で、応募作のレベルが上がったことをとてもうれしく思う。ただ、これまではメディアアートや映像作品や平面の応募はあるものの、準グランプリ以上の受賞には至っていない。展示場所は決して簡単な場所ではないが、それらの作品を作っている方にも、ぜひ来年の挑戦をお願いしたい、と思っている。放送作家/脚本家/Ｎ35inc・(株)オレンジ・アンド・パートナーズ代表/東北芸術工科大学デザイン工学部企画構想学科長代表作：「カノッサの屈辱」「料理の鉄人」「ニューデザインパラダイス」（以上、TV番組）、「おくりびと」（映画脚本）応募数も増え、レベルも上がっていて、アワードとしての充実感を去年より感じた。ただ、「和」を意識しすぎてモチーフも「和＝相撲、寿司」といったありきたりの型にはまりすぎているのが気になる。もう少しニヤリとしてしまう、世の中を明るくするデザイン提案に期待したい。Kazuhiko Hachiya / Media artistI am extremely pleased to see that the quality level of theentries has risen over the past 2 years. Even so, media art,video and two-dimensional entries have received no morethan the runner-up prize. I would like to see the artistsmaking works of those genres challenge again next year.Kundo Koyama / Broadcast writer / scriptwriterBecause of the increase in the number of entries and therise of the quality level, I have a higher sense of satisfactionwith the award than I did last year. But I am concerned withthe over-focus on the motif of traditional Japan (sumo,sushi etc.). I hope for designs that can make us grin andbrighten up the world.4
