photo by Herbie Yamaguchi清水敏男Toshio Shimizu土屋公雄Kimio Tsuchiya東京ミッドタウン・アートワークディレクター/学習院女子大学教授代表作：「超空間INBETWEEN Kengo Kuma, Shiro Kuramata, Anish Kapoor」（10）、杭州SINO-OCEAN運河公館住宅モデルエリア彫刻プロジェクト（11）彫刻家/愛知県立芸術大学教授/武蔵野美術大学客員教授代表作：「記憶の場所」東京空襲平和モニュメント、場や歴史の記憶を刻む作品等展示場所がガラスケースからアベニューに出たことでガラスの境界がなくなり、作品はミッドタウンの空間のなかに入っていき、表現が広がった。受賞作品はそれぞれ都市についてミクロの視点（山本：住宅の集積）、マクロの視点（米元：ガラスのスカイスクレーパー）、都市内部の視線（木村：通行人との対峙）を示し興味深い。応募作品の質も飛躍的に向上しますます重要なアワードとなったと思う。Curator / University ProfessorIt is profoundly interesting how each of the winning works approach thetheme of the city, either from a micro perspective (Yamamoto:a collection ofhousing units), or from a macro perspective (Yonemoto: glass skyscrapers),or from an inner-city perspective (Kimura:confronting the passersby). Thequality of the submitted works has improved tremendously increasing theimportance of this award.いつの世もアーティストは、時代や歴史と対峙し社会の矛盾に直面しながら、新たなる価値の再発見のためにもがいてきた。今年は震災関連の表現が多く見られ、二次審査では議論が大いに白熱した。この意見の拮抗は極めて重要である。応募者一人一人の作品には個々の想い・精神・表現のダイナミズムが込められており、最終選考に残った方々の作品は、他と実力伯仲の末勝ち得た入賞だと考えている。Sculptor / University ProfessorThis year we saw many expressions related to the earthquake and we hadseriously heated discussions during the second screening. It is extremelyimportant to exchange opinions in equally matched ways. In each of thesubmitted works, the applicants put their personal feelings, spirit andexpressive dynamism; and it was a close contest even for the works thatwon at the final selection.photo by Miura Haruko中山ダイスケDaisuke Nakayama写真：米倉裕貴八谷和彦Kazuhiko Hachiyaアーティスト/東北芸術工科大学教授代表作：「他者とのコミュニケーション」という一貫したテーマによるインスタレーション、オブジェ、絵画、写真、ビデオ等メディア・アーティスト/東京芸術大学准教授代表作：「視聴覚交換マシン」「見ることは信じること」「ポストペット」「エアボード」「オープンスカイ」等アートは「叫び声」として戦災や災害などに対するリアクションになる事も多いですが、そもそもの存在が常に「予言的」な性格を帯びています。山本さんも木村さんも原発事故以前から社会の歪みや仕組みの矛盾を無理なく作品化されていたので、私も今の世界への憂いとともに、素直に向き合うことができました。一見シニカルで良質な表現の裏側にこそ、大切なやさしさがあるのかもしれません。Artist / University ProfessorArt as a "cry" always takes on a "prophetic" character. Long before theaccident at Fukushima nuclear power plant, both Yamamoto and Kimurahad been producing works that effortlessly give shape to society's warpedaspects and contradictory mechanisms, so I could meet their works with afrank attitude, while also feeling anxious and concerned about our currentworld.オープンスペースでの展示というのはなかなか難しい条件だったと思います。しかし多くの作家に場所性に負けない提案をしていただきました。そのことにまず感謝したいと思います。同時にその条件を乗り越えて選ばれた受賞作品は、結果的になかなかの完成度で仕上がったと思います。今回の展示作品が、目にする多くの人に愛され、何かを与えることができれば、と一審査員として願っています。Media Artist / University ProfessorFirstly, I would like to express my appreciation to most participants whoovercame the difficult requirements of exhibition area. Simultaneously,I think that the winning works, which were chosen for surmountingthis difficulty, as a result were completed with a rather high degree ofperfection.
