明日を担う若い"ちから"を育てる「Tokyo Midtown Award」今年で５回目を迎える「Tokyo Midtown Award」は、デザインとアートの街・東京ミッドタウンが主催するデザインとアートのコンペティションです。明日を担うデザイナーやアーティストの発掘と応援を目的とし、第一線で活躍するアーティスト、キュレーター、デザイナーを審査員に迎え、学生から一般の方々にまで幅広く門戸を開放しています。基軸テーマは、街のコンセプト「JAPAN VALUE」。アートコンペでは制作補助金と、東京ミッドタウン内のスペースを作品発表のチャンスとして受賞者に提供しています。デザインコンペではテーマのみを提示し、自由な発想でのデザインを募り、受賞者には商品化に向けた全面的なサポートを行っています。既にこれまでの5回の実施で計6作品が商品化され、全国各地のセレクトショップなどで高い評価を得て、大きな話題となっています。受賞者たちはアワードをひとつの契機としながら精力的に活動を展開し、日々成長し続けています。東京ミッドタウンはデザインとアートの力で日本に活力を与えるため、「Tokyo Midtown Award」によって未来の才能を応援しています。Tokyo Midtown Award - fostering the talents of the next generationThe Tokyo Midtown Award which marks its fifth year this year, is a design and art competition sponsored byTokyo Midtown - an area that is filled with design and art works. The competition aims to discover and supportdesigners and artists of the future, and welcomes a broad range of applicants from students to the generalpublic. The judges consist of artists, curators and designers working at the forefront of their various fields.The key theme of the competition is“JAPAN VALUE”- the concept of Tokyo Midtown. Winners of the artcompetition receive money grants to cover production costs and are given the opportunity to display their works inan exhibition space at Tokyo Midtown. In the design competition, applicants submit freely conceived designs inline with a given theme. The winners receive all-round support to make their designs into commercial products.In the past five competitions, a total of six products have been commercialized and put on sale in“selectshops”nationwide. They have been well- received and have generated much talk.The winners have utilized the opportunities given by the award to further their creative activities and theyare continuing to make advances.
