It is in theright in the middle of the city that people and culture meet.New values are born through encounters and exchange.The Grand Prize winner was invited to the“Business of DesignWeek”in Hong Kong, the biggest design event in Asia.Note: awardees? profiles are those that were submitted at thetime of application.\1,000,000\500,000\300,000\50,000小山薫堂Kundo Koyama放送作家/脚本家/ N35inc・（株）オレンジ・アンド・パートナーズ代表/東北芸術工科大学デザイン工学部企画構想学科長代表作：「カノッサの屈辱」「料理の鉄人」「ニューデザインパラダイス」（以上、T V番組）、「おくりびと」（映画脚本）、「小山薫堂幸せの仕事術」（書籍）すぐれたデザインは「その先」を想像させます。単に美しいだけ、カッコいいだけではなく、それを手にしたり出会うことで未来がどれだけ豊かになるかを想像させるデザインこそ、本当に素晴らしいと思います。特に今年の優勝は「もの」ではなく「こと」の提案でした。第1回（2008年）のテーマが「日本の新しいおみやげ」だったことを考えれば、コンペティションそのものが成熟しているのかもしれません。Broadcast Writer / ScriptwriterGood designs serve to expand the imagination. I think truly excellentdesigns are those that do not just look lovely or chic, but which helppeople imagine a better future when they look at it or touch it. The prizethis year went to a proposal for an event, not an object. Consideringthat the theme of the first competition (in 2008) was“Japanese newsouvenir”; the competition itself seems to be maturing.12
