photo by Herbie Yamaguchi清水敏男Toshio Shimizu土屋公雄Kimio Tsuchiya東京ミッドタウン・アートワークディレクター/学習院女子大学教授代表作：杭州SINO-OCEAN運河公館住宅モデルエリア彫刻プロジェクト（11）、横浜三井ビルディングアートワーク（12）彫刻家/愛知県立芸術大学教授/武蔵野美術大学客員教授代表作：「記憶の場所」東京空襲平和モニュメント、場や歴史の記憶を刻む作品等回数を重ねるたびに面白い作品案が増えて来たので選考に苦労した。このアワードの面白さは、作品案で審査してその後制作するので、その課程でどれだけ作品を深化できるかにかかっているところである。またパブリックスペースに展示する事が前提なので見せ方もマスターしなくてはならない。最後まで到達した作家は自信を持っていただきたいが、自分の持ち味を理解しさらに発展させてほしい。Curator / University ProfessorThe interesting thing about this competition is that production startsafter the proposals for the artworks have been selected. What mattersis how much depth is given to the works in that process. Artists alsoneed to master the technique of displaying in a public space. I hopethe finalists will be self-confident, be aware of their individuality, andcontinue to evolve.これまでの受賞者には様々な展覧会で活躍されている方々がおり、今やこのアートコンペは、国内における若手アーティストの登竜門的役割を持つ公募展となっている。今回最終審査に残った6名の皆さんも、いずれは日本の美術界で活躍される方々であろう。6作品それぞれが独自の世界観を持つ力作である。今年もメトロアベニューとプラザを行きかう多くの人々に、アートの魅力を感じ楽しんでいただけたことだろう。Sculptor / University ProfessorThis art competition which is open to the public has become agateway to success for young artists in Japan. No doubt the sixfinalists will be working busily in the Japanese art world in the future.All six works are exceptional and express a distinctive worldview.I am sure that the people who walk through the Metro Avenue andPlaza enjoyed the alluring artworks.photo by Miura Haruko中山ダイスケDaisuke Nakayama写真：米倉裕貴八谷和彦Kazuhiko Hachiyaアーティスト/東北芸術工科大学教授代表作：「他者とのコミュニケーション」という一貫したテーマによるインスタレーション、オブジェ、絵画、写真、ビデオ等メディア・アーティスト/東京藝術大学准教授代表作：「視聴覚交換マシン」「見ることは信じること」「ポストペット」「エアボード」「オープンスカイ」等今年から展示場所が地下モールに点在するようになったことで、作品単体の力がさらに求められました。作家の望む距離まで観客を導く事も、作品背景の説明を要する作品も困難な中、アートを期待していない人々とすれ違い様に接続する力を造形力に込めた中里さんと渡辺さん、スナックそのさん、画力に込めた赤嶺さんが一歩及ばなかったことが残念です。街が潜在的に放つ力は、作家の想像以上だったようです。Artist / University ProfessorThe works were scattered around the public space this year and itwas vital for each work to be strong. The works by Nakazato-san,Watanabe-san, Snack Sono-san and Akamine-san had a strength thatresonated with even the casual passerby; it was a pity they did not gethigher prize. I think the public space had more underlying energy thanthe artists expected.二次審査に選んだのは、いずれもグランプリを狙える実力を持った人たちだと思っていた（る）のだが、最終作品が想定より良かった人もいれば、多少残念な人もいた。これはロケーションやサイズなど、様々な要因が作用したのだと思う。プラン通りにいかないことは、作家なら必ず経験することなので、これにめげずに今後も実作し続けてほしい。そうして初めて、素材や作品をコントロール出来るようになるので。Media Artist / University ProfessorAll 6 finalists seemed to have the potential of winning the Grand Prize,but some of the works were better than expected, while others fellslightly short of expectations. I think this was due to many restrictionsthey had to face. I hope the artists will not be deterred by this andcontinue making works. By doing so, they will learn how to control thematerials and their work.3
