アワード出身者の現在/ The Award Winners Today - Ichitaro Suzuki受賞で拓かれたアーティストとしての第一歩The award helped me take my first step forward as an artist鈴木一太郎さん（2013年度アートコンペグランプリ受賞者）Ichitaro Suzuki (Award winner in the 2013 Art Competition)「バーチャルと彫刻」をテーマに、立体感を物質ではなく視覚的に想像させたいと考え、立体をドットの集まりとして表現する手法で創作活動を続けています。Tokyo Midtown Awardではほんとうに貴重な体験をすることができました。エントリーシートの制作、2次審査の審査員を前にしたプレゼンテーション、会場となる東京ミッドタウンのフロアでの実作というプロセスを通じて、僕はあらためて「社会のなかで芸術に求められているものとは何か？」ということを強く考えさせられました。公共の場に展示するからには、見る人たちが楽しんで興味を持ってくれる作品でなければならないし、作品自体の強い求心力も求められます。何を伝えたいのか、どう伝えるのか、その訓練をもっともっとしていかなければいけないことも痛感しました。これからも虚構と現実、物質とイメージについて、視覚を軸にしながら表現し続けていきたいと思います。Tokyo Midtown Awardで思いが叶ってアーティストとして一歩を踏み出し、本音を言えば今は戸惑ってもいるしプレッシャーも感じています。でも、ここで立ち止まらずにステップアップしていけるよう制作を続けていきたいと思います。（談）21．「単眼的風景：Gruppo del Laocoonte」（2013年）2．｢単眼的風景：David｣（2013年）3．｢単眼的風景：David Head｣（2014年）113I am continuing to make works themed on“virtual reality and sculpture.”Instead of looking at solid things, I want people to imagine the 3D form, so I?m usingdots to express solidity in my creations. This competition was really valuable for me. Submitting the presentation sheet, giving a presentation in front of thejudges, and creating the work at Tokyo Midtown ? these process made me think hard about what society needs from art. An artwork shown in a public spaceneeds to have a strong appeal, and to be something pleasurable for audience. I was made aware of the need to think of my message and how I should convey it,and I needed to practice in order to do it well. I hope to continue making works centered on the visual perception. This Award fulfilled my hope of taking my firststep as an artist. To be honest, I feel pressure and I am bewildered.
