アワード出身者の現在/ The Award Winners Today - bivouac“コト”のアイデアが実現した“MID DAY”" MID DAY" - the realization of an ideabivouacさん（2013年度デザインコンペグランプリ受賞者）bivouac (Award winner in the 2013 Design Competition)「仲間でなにか楽しいことをやりたい！」と応募したのがTokyoMidtown Awardでした。当時、フリーのデザイナーという同じ道を指向していた僕らは、意欲はあるけれどどこかモヤモヤしたものを抱えていました。そんな僕らにグラフィックとかプロダクトといった縛りがないTokyo Midtown Awardはまたとないチャレンジの場に映りました。自由で親しみが持てるコンペで、しかも超一流の方々が審査員として作品を見てくれて、実際に商品化されている作品まであるのも魅力でした。そうして2ヶ月間議論を重ねてつくりあげた作品のひとつが“MIDDAY”です。1年のちょうどまん中の7月2日を“ハーフタイム”としてお祝いしようという、“モノ”ではなく“コト”の作品でした。2014年には東京ミッドタウンで“MID DAY”WEEKも実現し、発案者として企画に参画することでアイデアの大切さと、かたちにすることの難しさと面白さを知りました。“MID DAY”実現によって、僕らはまた新しいステージに立つことができたように思います。“MID DAY”を世の中に広げ、7月2日を半年の節目として知ってほしい。そのためにこれからも頑張っていきたいと思います。（談）We took part in the Tokyo Midtown Award because we wanted to dosomething fun together as a group. We were all aiming to becomefreelance designers and had high ideals, but we were also feeling slightlyfrustrated at that time. We thought we should take the challenge ofentering this competition since the entries were not restricted to graphicsor products. It seemed to be a free-spirited competition and it resonatedwith us. It was also appealing that the entries are judged by first-ratepeople, and that some works are made into commercial products.We came up with the idea for“MID DAY”after two months of talks. Ourentry was an idea for an event - to celebrate July 2, the middle of the year,like half-time. In 2014, the“MID DAY”WEEK event was held at TokyoMidtown. We were involved in planning it, and we realized the importanceof ideas. We also experienced the difficulty and joy of turning ideas intoreality. We feel that the MID DAY event allowed us to rise to a new level.It?s our hope that MIDDAY will become widespread.
