At Tokyo Midtown we see design is everything which connects us fittingly. Design exists in everything—from graphic visuals to products to practices and lifestyle items—in short, design encompasses virtually every built good or service that shapes our lifestyles, and the culture around us. DESIGN LIVE features design exhibitions, alongside music, food, books, and more—to offer visitors opportunities to engage design first hand, and discover ways it can help make life better.
2026 THEME
The theme for this year’s event is Mitsumeru: see, imagine, discover. In today’s world of abundant text and imagery constantly swirling about us, Tokyo Midtown invites you to slow down and see, imagine, and discover many new ideas and creative inspirations. Taking advantage of the open spaces within the Tokyo Midtown complex, visitors can experience design, whether by stepping in for a closer look, or stepping back for a broader persepctive, or even sometimes moving in to touch or engage with the work, but most importantly enjoying the freedom to interact with a breadth of design at one's own pace. Please enjoy a leisurely stroll exploring design amidst the pleasant autumn air of Tokyo Midtown.

DESIGN LIVE EXHIBITION

For this year’s DESIGN LIVE EXHIBITION, Mitsumeru: see, imagine, discover, 19 groups of creators, ranging from internationally established figures to up-and-coming artists will be carefully considering materials, practices, social context, and our innate humanity—essential starting points for design. The resulting work, reflecting each participant's unique perspectiv invites visitors to share their propositions for observing, throughout the Galleria and onto the lawn area outside. It is our hope that seeing, imagining, and discovering this diverse array of works will leave a lasting impression, informing the way visitors come to see and experience everyday life.
