For this year’s DESIGN LIVE EXHIBITION, Mitsumeru: see, imagine, discover, 19 groups of creators, ranging from internationally established figures to up-and-coming artists will be carefully considering materials, practices, social context, and our innate humanity—essential starting points for design. The resulting work, reflecting each participant's unique perspectiv invites visitors to share their propositions for observing, throughout the Galleria and onto the lawn area outside. It is our hope that seeing, imagining, and discovering this diverse array of works will leave a lasting impression, informing the way visitors come to see and experience everyday life.

Observing the Behavior of the World
veig + Sae Honda
Look Closely, and the World Begins to Look Different
When we observe a landscape, we read the workings of nature through myriad clues—the way the plants have grown, the movement of animals, and other subtle signs—and we use that totality to make sense of the world around us. This holds true even if artificial flora is camouflaged within it. Try focusing your eyes on the subtle differences hidden in the landscape.

The Unexpected Power of Materials Born from Nature
ForestBank is an innovative sustainable material created by binding a diverse array of branches and foliage with water-based acrylic resin into a wood-composite. By comparing these works, incorporating pruned branches from Tokyo Midtown, with natural logs and branches, you will be invited to rediscover both wood, and the new, overlooked value in the nature that coexists with us, even within the city.

TAKT PROJECT
Finding Clues in a Dialogue with the Environment
This installation steps away from predetermined objectives and plans, to explore a new form of creation, born from a dialogue with the environment. By observing elements, such as plants—and layering in perspectives gained through 3D scanning—the installation uses modern technology to give physical form to the impulse to intervene and shape the world, while providing an experience that invites the participant to gain a fresh perspective on their immediate surroundings.
