AFRA|Human Beatbox
AFRA began his journey as a beatboxer after being inspired watching a performance by The Roots in New York in 1996. Considered a pioneer in Japan, he was featured in a documentary film about human beatboxing called Breath Control. He released his debut album, ALWAYS FRESH RHYTHM ATTACK!!!, in 2003, followed by Digital Breath, a beatbox collaboration with Prefuse 73, in 2004. His appearance in a Fuji Xerox TV commercial helped bring human beatboxing into the mainstream in Japan.
As AFRA & Incredible Beatbox Band, he has performed at festivals across the UK, Spain, Russia, Norway, Australia, and beyond. He now releases music and merchandise through his own label, Always Fresh, while also actively performing and releasing music with the unit Donuts Disco Deluxe, alongside ANI of Scha Dara Parr and Robo-Chu.
