Tokyo Midotown DESIGN TOUCH Tokyo Midotown DESIGN TOUCH

What is Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH?

A design based event that has been held since 2007 under the concept of "enjoying design through all five senses." This veritable festival of design brings together designers active both in Japan and overseas, accompanied by some stunning examples of design, imparting in an intimate and dynamically physical way the appeal and possibilities of design.

Weaving the Future

As we head toward a sustainable society
various changes are taking place in the environment surrounding us, such as technology and systems.

In order to create a better society,
it is important for people to be aware of these changes and to accept them positively.

Please feel the power of design that brings together various things to create new forms and experiences, changes to the future, and connects people's hearts.

To ensure a pleasant experience for everyone, we ask all our visitors to follow the following rules.

  • Visitors with pets must hold their pets or carry them in a carry bag or pet cart.
  • Please do not engage in any activity that might inconvenience other visitors.

Events may be subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Grass Square

The installation will feature a wooden terrain with three rings that are shifting and connected. The three-dimensional curved surface evokes a sense of playfulness in both children and adults. At the weekends, different colored stickers with the visitors' activities depicted on them are placed on the trees creating a history and once scattered dots like a pattern, soon become full of color. By leaving behind a history of the place, for each person this hill becomes a public place that has a special attachment to those who experience it.

Eri Tsugawa / ALTEMY

10/11 Fri – 11/4 Mon
11:00 – 19:00 *Cancelled in the event of bad weather
Midtown Garden

Can people question convenient environments that have become ordinary in everyday life?
We aim to create primitive architecture that evokes the natural sensitivity of human beings.
Using 3D micro-landform data of the Midtown Garden, we created an installation made of Concrete Canvas that captures subconscious information of surrounding landforms. By touching, sitting, lying on the canvas, people discover the way of being that connects the environment and the physical body through these objects.“The Ability to Reinterpret the City.”
We believe that this experience leads to creating ecological and sustainable attitudes towards society.
