About未来の学校祭

未来の学校祭は、東京ミッドタウンとアルスエレクトロニカによる未来の社会をみんなで考える新しいお祭りです。
アーティストによる社会への問いかけをきっかけに、さまざまなクリエイターや企業、ショップが来場者とともに、未来の社会を考えます。
コンセプトは「アートやデザインを通じて、学校では教えてくれない未来のことを考える新しい場」。
イベント来場者はExhibition、Performance、Workshop、Talkなど子供から大人まで楽しめるプログラムを自由に体験することができます。
未来について考えるうえで重要なヒントが見つかるかもしれません。

The “SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE FESTIVAL” by Tokyo Midtown and Ars Electronica is a new event for thinking of our future society together with a broad variety of visitors.
Artists, companies and stores at Tokyo Midtown will show visitors their finely honed works, projects and products.
The concept of School of the Future is “a new place to think about future, something that is not taught in school, through art and design.”
Visitors to this event can freely experience fun programs, such as exhibitions, workshops and talks, for kids to adults.
Surely, important hints might be found in thinking about the future.

Theme:GiriGiri/On the Edgeテーマ:ギリギリ

ギリギリ。それはセーフかアウトかわからない境界の最前線に対するチャレンジです。デジタル技術の進化により、いま、私たちは、かつてないほど完全さを追い求め、効率化や生産性を重視し、失敗を許さない空気にあふれた社会で生活しています。
失敗や多様な結果に対して寛容になり、新しいものを生みだすチャレンジの心意気を育むことは、未来をつくるうえで大きな力になります。
この展覧会では、社会でいま問わなければいけない問題に向き合う境界を意識した“ギリギリ”な作品が登場します。
私たちはアートとテクノロジーによるイノベーションが起こる最前線を見つめることができるでしょう。

“GiriGiri” is a conceptual frontier, a boundary, an edge along which what is barely ok, and outright wrong is questionable. We live a society pursuing unprecedented completeness, emphasizing efficiency and productivity, full of air that does not allow failure, pushed by the evolution of digital technology. Becoming tolerant of failure and diverse results, and fostering the spirit of challenge that creates new things. These are the great forces creating the future.
In this exhibition, art projects facing social topics that must be asked in our society, including prototypes created for new products and innovation, conscious for boundaries on-the-edge.
Through these cutting-edge projects, we will be able to see the forefront of art, society and innovation.

日常がちょっとしたことで非日常に変わる、そうした現象に注目する作品が集まります。どこにでもありそうな家具、誰もが知っている物が少し変わった方法で私たちの前に現れた時私たちはもっと繊細に日常と非日常の境界を見つめるようになるでしょう。
This room contains a collection of works that focus on the phenomenon of the ordinary changing into the extraordinary with little things.Once we see plain old everyday furniture or objects we use all the time appear in ways slightly different to how we are used to, we will get a better feel for the edge between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

AIやロボット、バイオテクノロジーの発達によって身体や知性、生命そのものに迫る技術が進化し続けています。ギリギリ・スクエアには、新たな生き物や生き物らしさに着目し生き物と人工物の境界に迫った作品が集まります。
The rise of artificial intelligence, robotics, and biotechnology is evolving into technologies that are pushing upon our bodies, intelligence, and even on life itself. The GiriGiri Square brings together works that focus on new types of life or the appearance of life to show the edge between living beings and artificial creations.

Collaboration is the focus of the GiriGiri Performance.
Each unique artwork is created through the conflict between people, materials, tools, or themes involved.
Experience for yourself the On the Edge performance shown beyond the many collaborations by artists.

ギリギリ・ワークショプでは、参加者一人一人がギリギリに挑戦しギリギリのアイデアを繰り出すワークショップを行います。
自分にとってのギリギリを考えることで限界を乗り越え、チャレンジする心を刺激します。

What is your personal On the Edge?
The GiriGiri Workshop helps each person explore his or her On the Edge, to come up with On the Edge ideas.
Coming face to face with your own On the Edge will help stimulate your ability to take challenges and go beyond your boundaries.

How do people working On the Edge in various fields think?
What process of trial and error do they go through?
This talk session will take a thorough look at the sense of beauty On the Edge, taking you deeper and closer to the edge for both the artists and companies involved in the School of the Future, as well as the many innovative activities of Ars Electronica seen at our festivals each year.

クリエイターやアーティストのみなさんと一緒に美術館やイベントを回り、その人ならではの、美術館やアートの見方を学ぶ「六本木、旅する美術教室」。第5回の先生はアートディレクターのえぐちりかさん。アルスエレクトロニカ・フェスティバル・ディレクターのマーティン・ホンツィックさんを案内人に、「未来の学校祭」を巡ります。えぐちさん、マーティン・ホンツィックさんとともに未来について考えてみませんか。
