What is Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH?

A design based event that has been held since 2007 under the concept of "enjoying design through all five senses." This veritable festival of design brings together designers active both in Japan and overseas, accompanied by some stunning examples of design, imparting in an intimate and dynamically physical way the appeal and possibilities of design.

The Forest of Design

Four contents to see, think, play, and create make their appearance at Midtown Garden.
This definitely looks exciting! Let yourself go with the flow to proceed through the incredibly colorful walkway. A chance to come into contact with multiple facets of design.

Roppongi Color Canyon

Roppongi Color Canyon

This dynamic installation is brought to us by SPREAD, a creator unit, which use “color and concept” as their specialty to do design and direction of graphic, product and exhibition design in Japan and overseas. This is a completely new world of vivid colors, made using mesh fabric spanning over approximately 80m, under the concept of “becoming immersed in scenery.” Lose yourself in this fusion of scenery and design filled with vibrantly colored canyons.

Moment

Moment

Witness the appearance of a sculpture on the theme of time.
This work uses the wind as its motif to express a moment in time. Using the power of science, the shape of wind at a single instant is visualized, something that cannot be captured by the human eye, and then expressed in the form of sculpture. Viewing a moment, normally a concept we can never actually see, as an tangible object right in front of you, gives you a new insight into the significance of that instant in time. The mirror elements also place the observer into the work itself, providing an opportunity to think about the beauty waiting to be discovered in the time of our own long, yet also brief, lives.
